Featured Business: Stir Coffee House

We Love Delta exists to share stories of resilience and recovery. As our local businesses continue their journey of pivoting and adapting to the new Covid-19 era we will be showing our love by sharing their stories. Stir Coffee House shares with us how they quickly went from a local coffee hangout into bike delivery service and how they are now working to bring back the local coffee shop charm we love, in a safe manner.

“After closing up the shop on March 18th, we transitioned into a bike delivery service (Ladner limits) the next week for dry coffee/tea goods and accessories. At the beginning of April we introduced the Healthcare Coffee Fund, where we would drop off coffee’s and teas every STIRsday (Thursday) to the frontline staff at Delta Hospital. We collaborated with Richlea Bakery on this program where they provided the baked goods. To help make this possible every week, we asked the community for help in the way of monetary contributions. We collected over $4500 up to June as the hospital has stopped accepting gifts in kind from the community. Our last drop off was June 25th and left us with a balance of just over $1500 which we donated to the Delta Hospital Foundation for combatting COVID in the hospital in the way of Infection Control between departments to ensure patient safety.

We slowly re-opened the store front in mid-April with limited days and hours whilst still providing a delivery service. Since the beginning of June, we are open from Tuesday to Saturday with hours just recently extended to 8am – 4pm. Currently, we are still only offering take out service but are working on a safe plan to try to re-open the seating area that will be safe for both customers and staff.”
