Port of Vancouver Brings the Holidays Together

Delivering everything you need for the holidays!

Many of the things we associate with the holidays are either imported or exported through the Port of Vancouver. Your Christmas tree decorations, the gifts we give and receive, the nuts and nibbles—even the clothes we wear and the table we sit at with family. Oh, and the wine we toast with as well! The list is almost as endless as a Christmas carol playlist.

It’s a mammoth operation, and many of those goods start arriving as early as July. It’s also a job that requires a lot of teamwork between all those in the shipping container business, including cargo and ship owners, terminal operators, freight forwarders, trucking companies, railways, and others.

When a container ship arrives at a container terminal such as Deltaport right here at Roberts Banks in Delta, a team works around the clock to ensure the containers are safely removed from the ship. The container of imported goods is put on a truck, train or barge, sent to warehouses, and then transported to retailers and distributors—here in Delta and across the country.

That’s why the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, on behalf of the Port of Vancouver, is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the We Love Delta holiday boxes. Each holiday box represents local businesses—many of which rely on the port.
